Rebirth – a Timelapse of Detroit
Detroit is back. The city that was once called the Paris of the Midwest has been reborn into a beautiful, vibrant, city on the rise. I’m here to show you that Detroit is not a city of crime and ruins, but a diverse city of life, new ideas, and an abundant variety of scenery.
Shooting for this video took place over the course of around 2 years, with countless hours processing. The final product is made up of roughly 5,000 individual photographs, cut down from over 25,000 frames captured over the last two years.
Gathering footage for this video showed me some of the incredible things that can be found in Detroit if you’re willing to be patient and seek them out. From the views on top of the Penobscot Building, to the quiet serenity of Belle Isle and everything in between, I am proud to call Detroit my home.
The Forest – a Tribute to Michigan’s Wilderness
30,000 frames. Thousands of miles. One year of shooting. One incredible state.
I shot this time lapse video from some of Michigan’s greatest treasures to show the world what our state is truly like and to share what can be found while exploring true wilderness. Locations that were filmed include the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Isle Royale National Park, Porcupine Mountains State Park, and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Many early mornings, late nights, and hours behind the computer made this possible. I hope you have as much fun watching this video as I did making it.
Isle Royale National Park
I shot this short time lapse over the course of 8 days on Isle Royale National Park. Over that time I covered over 45 miles and took more than 1,500 photos. This was the first major time lapse project I have produced and it is something I’m very proud of. Carrying 60 pounds of equipment, food, and photography gear was a great challenge during the trip, but the people I met and the landscapes I experienced were incredible. I will never forget this experience.
A Night in Detroit
On Saturday December 19, I got the opportunity to explore downtown Detroit with some of southeast Michigan’s finest photographers. We started at Milliken State Park and walked around the city, stopping at places like Hart Plaza, Campus Martius, and several very cool parking garages in between. This entire video and all time lapses in it were shot in less than 5 hours.
